On February 17 – 18, 2017 the World Jewish Congress Yiddish Center representative Yael Boes took an active part in the session of the "Metsuda" program in Yekaterinburg, Russia. That was the first session of the planned four, which are to be held this year.

This event, hold thanks to our cooperation with Jewish culture center "Menora" in Yekaterinburg and the Ural regional office of the American Jewish Distribution Committee (aka the Joint), aimed to equip young Jewish activists with social skills and with knowledge of Jewish culture, tradition and history, to train and develop future leaders for prospering and strengthening Jewish communities. .

Yael, herself a Muscovite and a graduate of several WJC YC courses in Vilnius, provided lectures to two groups of 36 students in total, including members of the local branch of the Jewish students association "Hillel". Her topic was: "Comparative analysis of portraying Jewish characters in creations of Russian (Kuprin, Korolenko) and Yiddish (Sholom-Aleichem, Bialik, Ash) writers."

Yael's lectures aroused huge interest among the audience, which is eager to take part in the Yiddish Center seminar in Vilnius. Due to this success, we have been invited to next "Metsuda" sessions, too.
