On February 28, 2017 the second session of the basic Yiddish mini-course, initiated by Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for education, MK Yaakov Margi, took place in the Israeli Knesset. Its topic was: "Secrets of Yiddish humor, or Why in Yiddish it sounds better?".
All the four lessons are provided by the academic director of World Jewish Congress International Yiddish Center, Dr. Mordechay Yushkovsky. The audience was twice the size of the first session: it included MKs, their aides, and some Knesset technical staff.
Most Yiddish jokes turned out to be comprehensible without translation: the public used to burst out laughing before the lecturer managed to render them in Hebrew.
