On January 22, 2017 a seminar "Pearls of Yiddish Culture" for the program "PJ Library" members took place in Moscow.

This program is involved into international charity activity, run by the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. It focuses on distribution of complementary subscription of fiction literature to subscribers on various Jewish subjects, who have children below the age of 8.

The program's main task is to integrate young families into Jewish community life, in order to maintain Jewish self-consciousness for coming generations. The International Yiddish Center at the World Jewish Congress was invited to give there a few lectures, which seem to be of special interest to the target group.

About 50 formal and informal educators from Moscow schools and Jewish organizations, participating in the "PJ Library", attended the recent seminar. They attentively listened to the lectures, provided by the academical director of WJC Yiddish Center, Dr. Mordechay Yushkovsky: "Family and children in Yiddish literature" and "Children's literature in Yiddish".

Both subjects were accepted very warmly. It is for the first time that the audience learned about existing of rich literature for children in Yiddish. The educators intend to use the acquired knowledge in their practical work and express their wish to have more such seminars in future.
