On June 26, 2018 the academic director of the International Yiddish Center at the World Jewish Congress, Dr. Mordechay Yushkovsky, delivered a lecture "Longing for Zion in Yiddish literature" in "Teatron Yerushalayim" (the Jerusalem Theater) for 80 teachers from various Israeli educational institutions, as well as for general public.

This event is an integral part from the series of 8 lectures dealing with Yiddish culture. Its subject was timed to coincide with the Day of Jerusalem.

Dr. Yushkovsky's narration was accompanied by a specially elaborated video presentation. Extremely sensitive, touching creations of Sholom-Aleichem, Sh. Frug, K. Molodovsky, Y. Glatstein, H. Grade and other poets and prosaics, who used to dream of the Jewish national revival in the people's historic home, have been recited and discussed.

Certain exciting passages about the writers' missing the Promised Land moved the audience to tears.
