Show 19 parnu

Between October 11-13, 2019 the Jewish community of Estonia held its annual conference "Yahad" in the town of Pärnu. That forum gathered over 500 Jews of all ages and social groups in a unique atmosphere of Jewish fraternity and learning. The participants took part in numerous lectures, seminars and workshops, covering a wide range of topics.

Three representatives of the International Yiddish Center at the World Jewish Congress – its academic director Dr. Mordechay Yushkovsky alongside with musicians Marina Yakubovich and Lev Sandiuk – took an active part in the program.

Yushkovsky provided talks about the Yiddish language and culture, whereas Yakubovich (singer, actress and musical pedagogue) and Sandiuk (klezmer arranger and performer) entertained the public with lectures-concerts combining a short description of a context and background explanation, followed by a song in Yiddish.
