As a part of the cooperation between WJC YC and Limmud FSU project, on November 13, 2016 Dr Valentina Fedchenko gave lectures about Isaac Bashevis Singer's works and their translations in St. Petersburg, Russia.
At the beginning of her presentation Dr. Fedchenko briefly described the WJC International Yiddish Center, its activity and goals. Despite the rugged competition (a practical course in stomatology was taking place at the same time), the 12 persons-strong audience did attend our lectures.
In fact, the name of the winner of the Nobel prize for literature Bashevis Singer is well-known; his life story being quite attractive.
After the lectures, the listeners asked a lot of questions on the subject. The lively discussion gradually turned into a free conversation about Yiddish cultureas a whole.
