On 26-27 of October, 2016 the festival "Days of Yiddish in Eitan" took place in Saint Petersburg. Its main goal was to draw attention to Yiddish language and to its extremely rich and diverse cultural heritage, to encourage Jews study Yiddish.

The academical director of the International Yiddish Center at the World Jewish Congress, Dr. Mordechay Yushkovsky gave four lectures on the following topics: "What has Yiddish to say in XXI century?", "Yiddish culture in USSR, its flourishing and tragic fall", "Literature of Jewish emigration", and "Secrets of Jewish humour".

The event was enriched with a concert of klezmer band from St. Petersburg and a workshop of Jewish cuisine.

We got very warm feedbacks. The director of St. Petersburg Jewish Community centre "Yesod" Maria Aryeva expressed her wish to cooperate with WJC YC in future, to send a group of students to a seminar in Vilnius, and to invite Dr Yushkovsky for delivering more lectures in St. Petersburg.
