Dr. Mordehay Yushkovsky on WJC YC behalf spoke about "The actual aspects of Yiddish culture in the 21st century" and "Yiddish humour".

"Hesed" is an important tool in social and community services, which is meeting needs not only of people who are elderly but also who are middle aged and young generation. It plays an important role in the community development in the FSU. Such centers exist in the cities with which we are familiar – Kiev, St. Petersburg, Minsk, Moscow and small periphery communities. The "Hesed" network constitutes the largest and most effective of all community welfare and cultural services in Russia and other former USSR republics.

Andrey Smakotin, the participant of the seminar, wrote:

"Dear colleagues, thank you for the help in organization and inviting Dr. Mordehay Yushkovsky from WJC YC in Vilnius to the seminar of Hesed directors, financed by JOINT foundation. The seminar was attended by directors of the charitable Jewish organizations not only in Moscow but also in Central Russia, Nizhny Novgorod, Kaliningrad and Crimea. In total there were 25 top officials. It seemed that people have long been working in the Jewish world, they know the history and literature in Yiddish, are themselves representatives of the Jewish nation, but Mordehay's lecture showed that we have seen only the tip of the iceberg of Jewish culture. He carries a deep academic and historical knowledge on the topic of Yiddish literature with a good sense of humor. In short lectures' time a whole layer of culture that existed before the time of the disaster revealed itself. Lectures were bright, emotional and listeners at times had tears in the eyes, sometimes laughed, worried and applauded. Thanks for the efforts of WJC YC in Vilnius, rich history of Yiddish literature does not sink into oblivion, and will take its rightful place in the culture of the earth civilization."
