Seminar in Vilnius with the Israeli teachers' association

A seminar “Pearls of Yiddish culture” took place from April 13 to 15, 2016 in cooperation with the Association of secondary school teachers in Israel (Irgun Hammorim). 35 teachers from all parts of the State of Israel came to Vilnius in order to study about Yiddish culture and heritage.

Ostroh, Ukraine: seminar in Yiddish culture & inauguration of Center for Judaic Studies

The Center for Judaic Studies at the university "Ostroh Academy" was inaugurated on April 25, 2016 with assistance of WJC Yiddish Center. The latter also hold there a seminar on Yiddish culture on April 24-28.

Workshop "Yiddish in the 21st century" in Buenos Aires

On April 9-11, 2016, as a follow-up to the last year's seminar held by WJC YC, Buenos Aires hosted a workshop "Yiddish in the 21st century". The Argentine branch of YIVO (Yiddish Research Institute) acted as its co-organizer.

“Pearls of Yiddish culture” for ORT teachers from Russia, Ukraine and Moldova

On March 26 – 28, 2016 a seminar “Pearls of Yiddish culture” for teachers of ORT schools from Russia, Ukraine and Moldova took place in Vilnius. 16 participants from Moscow, Kazan, Ufa, Odessa, Kiev and Chisinau attended the lectures on Yiddish language, literature, history and music given by Dr Yushkovsky, Dr Sheptovitsky and Dr Lempert. They also took tours through Jewish Vilnius.

“Pearls of Yiddish culture” for Moscow JDC and JCC professionals

On March 21-23, 2016 a seminar “Pearls of Yiddish culture” for the Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) professionals from Moscow and Central Russia and program coordinators from the Moscow Jewish Cultural Center (JCC) "Nikitskaya" took place in Vilnius.

“Pearls of Yiddish culture” in Vilnius for Hillel youth coordinators from Russia

On March 7 - 9, 2016 a seminar “Pearls of Yiddish culture” for Hillel youth clubs coordinators throughout Russia took place in Vilnius. This event, organized by WJC Yiddish center, gathered 15 participants from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov-na-Donu, Krasnoyarsk, Samara, etc.

Seminar for tutors of Jewish kindergartens in Ukraine

From February 19 - 23, 2016 the first of its kind seminar of Yiddish language and culture for Jewish kindergartens tutors took place in Kyiv. It was a joint project of WJC Yiddish center and Jewish Foundation of Ukraine. The participants were presented a unique method of language teaching by means of songs. The technique has been developed specifically for this event and for the follow-up workshops of WJC YC in Vilnius.

WJC Yiddish center at the seminar of directors of "Hesed" programs in Russia

On January 21-24, 2016, a seminar for 30 directors of "Hesed" programs from Central Russia and Crimea was organized by JDC (Joint Distribution Committee) in Moscow. This event is a part of our ongoing cooperation with JDC.

WJC Yiddish center at KNAFAIM Young leadership development program

On 21 - 24 January Knafaim Young Leadership field seminar took place in Moscow, Russia. It gathered 26 young Jewish leaders from Moscow region and central Russia.
