As a part of the cooperation between WJC YC and Limmud FSU project, on November 13, 2016 Dr Valentina Fedchenko gave lectures about Isaac Bashevis Singer's works and their translations in St. Petersburg.
On December 11, 2016 the academic director of the Yiddish Center at the World Jewish Congress, Dr. Mordechay Yushkovsky, gave a lecture in Jerusalem for 43 officers of Israeli Defence Forces, who participate in the "Mahut" project.
On 26-27 of October, 2016 the festival "Days of Yiddish in Eitan" took place in Saint Petersburg. Its main goal was to draw attention to Yiddish language and to its extremely rich and diverse cultural heritage, to encourage Jews study Yiddish.
A tremendous festival "Days of Jewish Culture" was held in Kharkov (Ukraine) on October 13-23, 2016. This event was organized by the Jewish Culture Center of Kharkiv with the support of American Jewish Distribution Committee "Joint".
On November 4–5, 2016 a seminar, devoted to Yiddish culture and language, took place in Posadas, in north-eastern Argentina, at the Paraguay border. This is the common event of the IWO institute in Buenos Aires and WJC YC.
The seminar "Pearls of Yiddish Culture" for 45 young leaders from Israel and former Soviet Union was held in Vilnius on October 22 – 24, 2016 by WJC Yiddish center within the framework of the educational program"Rodnya".
A special seminar for the Israeli residents – descendants from Vilnius and their children, was held by the World Jewish Congress in the Lithuanian capital on September 20-23, 2016.
The Yiddish seminar for 30 members of the association “Dorot ha-hemshekh” (the second generation of Holocaust survivors from Israel) took place on September 11-13, 2016 in Lviv, Ukraine.
A lecture-concert "Yiddish Songs and Poetry in Vilnius Ghetto during the Holocaust" took place in the Vilnius Public Jewish Library on September the 21st, 2016. Organized by the International Yiddish center at the World Jewish Congress in cooperation with the Vilnius Public Jewish Library, it was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of liquidation of Vilnius ghetto.
